Giant Swallowtail along the quiet shores of the Arkansas River. This is the largest species of butterfly in North America, with a wingspan ranging from 5.5 to 7.5 inches! An absolutely beautiful butterfly that I always enjoy seeing. I was laying down on the wet sand photographing shorebirds when this swallowtail decided to come say hello, and I was excited to photograph it in a rather unusual setting.
